  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats

  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blackberries

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup whole milk

  • 1/3 cup cubed mango

  • 1/2 tbsp.- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. poppyseed

  • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger

  • 1/8 tsp fine sea salt

  • Unsalted butter, (optional)

  • Add all of the ingredients to a 1-quart saucepan and place over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 or until the oatmeal has reached the desired consistency. Pour the oatmeal into a bowl and add a few extra blackberries and chunks of mango.

  • Replace the heavy cream and whole milk with coconut milk for extra tropical flair, or use whole milk or two percent milk to make it lighter.
  • ¬†You can use fresh or frozen fruit in the recipe.
  • If you taste the oatmeal and it’s a little too heavy for you, add one or two drops of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
