This mango, blackberry, poppyseed oatmeal is tropical and a little decadent. Eat it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
Mango, Blackberry, Poppyseed Oatmeal
1/2 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup whole milk
1/3 cup cubed mango
1/2 tbsp.- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. poppyseed
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/8 tsp fine sea salt
Unsalted butter, (optional)
- Add all of the ingredients to a 1-quart saucepan and place over medium-low heat. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-10 or until the oatmeal has reached the desired consistency. Pour the oatmeal into a bowl and add a few extra blackberries and chunks of mango.
- Replace the heavy cream and whole milk with coconut milk for extra tropical flair, or use whole milk or two percent milk to make it lighter.
- You can use fresh or frozen fruit in the recipe.
- If you taste the oatmeal and it’s a little too heavy for you, add one or two drops of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
